Some Southern California residents have reported feeling the shake and hearing a sonic boom as a SpaceX launch took off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Saturday morning.

A Falcon 9 rocket launched from Space Launch Complex 4 East around 11 a.m., according to SpaceX, sending 24 satellites into low-Earth orbit.

This was the 20th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which officials said previously launched SDA-0A, SARah-2, Transporter-11, and 16 Starlink missions.

Following stage separation, the booster landed on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship stationed out in the Pacific Ocean.

People in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties were told that they may hear one or more sonic booms during the launch. Some residents and users online reported hearing and feeling at least one boom. One X user described it as “big, loud and absolutely mind-boggling.”
