Peg Munson just announced she split from Season 2 Golden Bachelor lead Mel Owens after a year of dating. However, he has remained relatively silent. Now, he is speaking up regarding their breakup, but what does Mel have to say? Keep reading for more details.
Mel Owens & Peg Munson Were Very Happy Together
After Mel Owens chose Peg Munson in the Season 2 Golden Bachelor finale, they seemed very happy. Although there were no plans for a wedding, it did not matter. They shared photos and videos of them cooking together, enjoying life, and so much more. It appeared that they had found their missing puzzle piece, which was great given how Season 1 of the series had ended. Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist wed after the finale, but divorced not long after. Therefore, the hope was that Mel and Peg could have their happily ever after.
Unfortunately, after a year together, Peg shared that they had split. However, it was not a joint statement, and Mel has not said anything about it until now. He posted a gym selfie and wrote over it:
“Stay positive. Stay strong. Stay golden.”
The former pro football player looked great, happy, and healthy. Of course, someone hopped into the comments and noted that he does not owe anyone an explanation as to why the relationship ended. Moreover, they stated that just because he is a public figure does not mean anything. To that, Mel Owens replied:

Fans and followers slammed Mel in the comments as they felt he was the problem. Before his season of The Golden Bachelor began filming, he was in hot water for making comments about age. So, seeing him single again made people feel like he wants the next hot and young thing:
- That lady was amazing. Mel has the the issue, because he’s chasing youth and a time that has past. Good luck! I hope he finds peace.
He’s The Problem
Mel Owens, as aforementioned, had caught a lot of heat before the season began. That seems to be lingering even though it is over and done. Many believe that Peg Munson dodged a bullet and Mel was the problem all along. Moreover, he could never keep a relationship, no matter who he was with:
- Mel is emotionally unavailable. Peg did all he liked to do. They tried. It’s ok to step away and still remain friends. It’s called dating for a reason.
