Big ideas sometimes begin in a group chat, and that may be how Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams are plotting their next move.

Speculation about a Destiny’s Child comeback has been building, with several clues fuelling hopes of a reunion.

From the trio reuniting at a recent Jay-Z concert to their former manager hinting at releasing unheard music, fans have had reasons to wonder whether the singers are preparing something special.

Now insiders say the buzz is real and the former girl group is preparing something huge.

The idea for the trio to get together reportedly came last year, after Rowland toured with Brandy and Monica. Fans on TikTok posted clips of Williams’ and Monica’s vocal parts from the band’s songs, which served as a reminder for the women that listeners were hungry for quality R&B.

The reaction encouraged the women to start working on new material and are preparing to release it. “They are ready to come back with a new album in 2027,” one source told the Daily Mail.

“They are writing material themselves and go back and forth. They have a group chat and share ideas on there regularly, so the idea to get back together started there,” the insider added.

Michelle is at the forefront of the proposed plan and is said to be “leading the charge.” She is also introducing the others to gospel artists and vocal arrangers as they develop ideas for the project.

Although Williams is pushing strongly for it, Beyoncé is just as invested. The insider revealed that the “Single Ladies” hitmaker misses her ex-bandmates and has noticed how much fans still adore them.

A second source added that Beyoncé believes it is “the right time” for them to reunite. According to the person, watching Jay-Z celebrate recent milestones and anniversaries has also inspired the “Cuff It” singer, making a return to her former act feel like a natural move.

Reports about the singers’ group chat and plans came a day after Rowland commented on speculation about their return.

Following the announcement that Jay-Z would headline next year’s Super Bowl, fans began wondering whether his wife’s ex group members might join him onstage for the highly anticipated event.

However, when asked about the possibility, Rowland made it clear the decision wasn’t hers to make.

“That’s none of my business. That’s his performance. That’s none of my business,” she said, per The Blast.

Adding another layer to the reunion speculation, Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, who previously managed the singers, hinted at a collection of unreleased material from their catalog.

Knowles revealed the archives contain 10 to 15 urban and dance remixes of their biggest hits, along with tracks listeners have never heard before.

“It’s time to share that,” he said, as The Blast reported. He also revealed that the proposed collection could feature appearances from rappers, including Missy Elliott.

During their time together, Destiny’s Child released five studio albums, earned 14 Grammy nominations, and took home three awards.

The women announced their split in June 2005 while performing on their “Destiny Fulfilled… and Lovin’ It” tour. They informed an audience of 16,000 in Spain that they would pursue separate paths once the stint wrapped up.

Although they officially went their separate ways more than two decades ago, they have gotten together on several occasions for special appearances.

Their most recent major appearance came during the grand finale of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour in 2025.

At the time, Rowland and Williams joined Beyoncé for the “Mute Challenge,” a fan-favorite segment from her “Renaissance” set. The challenge sees concertgoers compete to remain silent during a portion of “Energy.”

The singers also treated the audience to some of their biggest hits, including “Bootylicious” and “Lose My Breath,” sending fans into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, the individual members have since performed the band’s songs. Rowland, for instance, joined Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine Tour” as an opening act, but one of her appearances attracted attention after fans noticed a few onstage slip-ups.

As The Blast reported, a viral clip showed the 45-year-old going blank on her verse of “Cater 2 U” and turning to the crowd for help. She laughed it off with the audience, but footage suggests she had trouble with pitch for the rest of the song.

In no time, social media users reacted to it, with some joking that it wouldn’t have happened with Beyoncé onstage. Others were more critical, questioning whether the performers had rehearsed and accusing Rowland of not taking the show seriously.
