Melissa Rycroft Became Known To Audiences After Appearing On Season 13 On The Bachelor
Rycroft is a media personality and former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. For many, she became known for appearing on season 13 of The Bachelor.
Following this, Rycroft competed on Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars. She ultimately finished in third place.
As previously reported, Rycroft was recently arrested and charged after what was reported to be a DWI. What made this notable at the time was that this took place just a few months after previously pleaded guilty to a similar DWI arrest.
In addition, one of the stipulations of her probation was that she was prohibited from using alcohol or illegal substances. Later reports noted that the case allegedly involved hitting an ambulance with Rycroft fleeing the scene, citing police records.
Since the story has come to light, Rycroft herself has broken her silence on social media. In a post shared on Facebook and Instagram, Rycroft opened up, “First, please know how deeply ashamed and embarrassed I am, especially knowing how much this has affected my friends and family.”
Rycroft Shared That She Would Be Seeking ‘Professional Care’ As She Tried To Get ‘Healthy’
The Bachelor alum continued, “I want to share something personal, and to be honest, I am very ashamed to share it, but I can’t hide it anymore, I’ve been struggling with my mental health for quite some time now. It has completely overwhelmed me. I’ve tried to hide what I’ve been going through by putting on a smile, but behind the scenes, things have been much harder than anyone realized or that I have let on, even to my family.”
Rycroft admitted that this did not make up for what she had done. As she shared, “No excuses at all, but I’m finally admitting that I need help. I’ve fought this for a long time on my own, and it’s time to admit that I can’t do it anymore.”
On what will happen next for her, Rycroft continued, “I’m getting professional care. This is so hard to say and the shame is still very much there, but I’m ready to feel like myself again, for me and for my family.” Asking for “grace,” the reality star said that she would focus on trying to get “healthy.” She concluded things by writing, “Thank you,” and signing off.
