The Young and the Restless delivers updates on the Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) wedding, including a huge hint about Jill Abbott‘s (Jess Walton)’s fate. And we have so much to talk about. We already know there are big twists and turns at the wedding, and it is not going to go off without a hitch.
Let’s talk about who is going to be there and what goes down at Sally and Billy’s big day. Who lives, who dies, who crashes, and who may get trashed. Let’s talk about what to look forward to at this mega two-day Young and the Restless event.
The Young and the Restless: A Gatsby Wedding at the GCAC
So, first, you probably already know this, but it’s a Gatsby-themed wedding. So, it’s a whole 1920s vibe, and it’s happening at the GCAC, which Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) just bought from Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). And when Billy and Sally booked the venue, of course, it was owned by Billy’s brother, not his ex. So, that’s a big red flag.
Jill Abbott’s Fate on Y&R
Second, let’s talk about Jill. So, she went way out of her way to wrangle an invitation to Billy’s wedding, even though he initially didn’t want her to come because he was worried that Jill would make a scene. But Sally pressed Billy to invite his mom. Cane did, too. So, he did. But now Jill has called to tell Billy she cannot come to the wedding because her doctor brother Snapper said no traveling.
Jill’s heart has been bad for a while. And we even had recast Lauren Coslo last play the role when Jess Walton couldn’t make it to LA to film, because she is mostly at her farm in Oregon these days. So, we were expecting Jill to be there, but as far as we know, she won’t be. Now, I will say, since we expect a wedding crasher, maybe more than one, there is a chance it could be Billy’s mom. Maybe Jill defies doctor’s orders because she decides she can’t miss her son Billy and Sally’s wedding, and she knows she’s dying.
So, in a new interview, Jason Thompson said Jill takes a serious turn, but he doesn’t say where it happens. So, I’m just wondering if The Young and the Restless is going to do the unthinkable and kill off Billy and Cane’s mom. Not only could they kill off Jill, but they could do it off-screen. But it would be more dramatic if Jess Walton returned and Jill attends the wedding and then collapses there. We’ll see how it goes.
Young and Restless: The Wedding Guest List
Let’s talk about guests and consequences. So, this will be a two-day Billy and Sally event. The wedding begins this Friday, October 16th, and carries over to Monday, October 19th. So, we know that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is on hand as brother of the groom and Billy’s best man. Presumably, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is there as well.
We also have the groom’s big sisters, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland), in town for his big day. And Billy’s cousin, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), is also on hand. We’ll see if she’s flying solo or if Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) is her plus-one. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is confirmed to be at the wedding as Cane’s date, and Phyllis will be around because she owns the venue. So, of course, she’s going to stick her nose into Billy and Sally’s wedding.
A Twisted Wedding Guest on Y&R
So, that is two of Billy’s exes already coming to the event. And a third ex of the groom is in the wedding party. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) is a bridesmaid. She’s in a dark orange flapper-style dress to match the Gatsby theme. And that also means Sally’s ex, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), will be there. And he’s been pressed by Sally and Chelsea to promise that he will not make a scene. However, we know that Adam does not think Billy’s good enough for Sally. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Adam won’t object at this ceremony, because Chelsea and Sally would absolutely kill Adam if he pulls anything.
We’ll also have Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian Leblanc) there for the event. Hopefully, his hangover from the bachelor party roast is gone by then. We expect to see Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) there, since he was at the bachelor party, too.
The Young and the Restless: Could Kyle and Victoria Get Busted?
And as far as we know, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), his other ex, will not be there. However, it would be way more soapy if Billy’s ex-wife is on hand, especially since her current fling, Kyle, will be at the wedding. But Victoria might attend. She’s on friendly terms with Sally, and Victoria may show up to livestream the ceremony in case their kids can’t be there. We have not heard anything about Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) and Katie Abbott Newman (Sienna Mercuri) being at the wedding, but they really should be there. It’s their dad’s wedding, so we’ll see.
And if Victoria is there, this could be the soapiest possible moment for Kyle and Victoria’s fling to be exposed, because I could see Kyle sneaking off with Victoria. You know, Kyle and her might duck into a supply closet at the GCAC to get frisky. And then Phyllis opens the door and busts them, because remember, she nearly caught Kyle and Victoria at the Riverbank Motel. And Phyllis would immediately realize Kyle was probably at the cheap motel hooking up with Victoria, because Phyllis was suspicious when she saw Kyle there.
It would be more awkward, of course, if the groom, Billy, found his ex-wife Victoria shagging his nephew Kyle in a closet at his wedding. But also, on Thursday, The Young and the Restless spoilers have Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) staying one step ahead of Victoria, so he might have security tailing her. Victor may crash and bust Victoria.

Young and Restless: Could Patty Crash the Wedding?
We also have some of Sally’s family there. On the bride’s side, there is Coco Spectra (Ashley Campbell), her sister, and Shirley Spectra (Patrika Darbo), her grandma. And did you notice that Traci said she loves Coco because she reminds her a lot of her dead daughter, Colleen Carlton? That might have been a red flag, because we know Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) is on the loose. She’s still obsessed with Jack. She’s not going to leave Genoa City quietly. And remember, Patty kidnapped Traci’s daughter, Colleen, and that led directly to her death.
And it seemed really strange that Traci mentioned Coco looking like Colleen. So, I’m just wondering, does crazy Patty show up and somehow mistake Coco for Colleen, because she’s, you know, cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, and Patty might do something to her? If she does show up, we could also see Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) crashing, trying to shut down Patty and get that redemption he wants. Obviously, neither Patty nor Matt are invited or wanted there.
The Bride’s Dress and a Baby on the Way on Y&R
Also on the bride’s side, we have Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), the bride’s bestie. Sally chose for Audra a dark red spangly number with a 1920s-style headband, skin-tight on her banging curves. Sally’s wedding dress is gorgeous, fitted around her baby bump. It’s white lace with a diamond cutout over the bodice. Billy is going to be wowed by Sally, but that dress might not last the whole night.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Sally goes from wedding gown to hospital gown, because Billy’s bride could have their baby at any moment. Jason Thompson said the baby comes very, very soon after the “I do.” So that could mean labor at the altar and an ASAP baby born by Monday or Tuesday of next week.
And by the way, it’s ex-head writer Josh Griffith who wrote these wedding scenes. So, grain of salt, right? Because his writing isn’t always the best. New co-head writer Jayme Giddens confirmed that, but he also said he and his new co-head writer Dan O’Connor were at the studio and watched the wedding scenes being filmed. Jamie said the cast and crew killed it and that the wedding was great.
I’m excited to see it kick off, and I truly hope that Jill makes it to their wedding. Either way, I hope they don’t kill off Jess Walton’s character, and especially not off-screen, but you never know. We could have a new life with that baby coming, and we could lose a life as well.
