The doctor has left the building. Tracy Ifeachor, who plays Dr. Heather Collins on The Pitt, will not return to Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital for season two, Vulture has confirmed. Well, technically, she won’t be working on the Fourth of July shift; in season one, Dr. Collins was a fourth-year resident at the hospital. Variety claims that the decision not to bring back Ifeachor for season two was made by the creative team behind the show. On Wednesday, July 9, Ifeachor seemingly hinted at a departure from the show, as her message did not indicate a future for season two. She wrote, “What a blessing to be a part of this first and foundational season of #ThePitt on @hbomax . It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece.” The Pitt is currently filming season two.
Dr. Collins went through hell in season 1 of The Pitt. Throughout the 15-hour shift, Collins revealed that she is pregnant after going through IVF without a partner, had a miscarriage during her shift, then revealed to her ex, Dr. Robby, that she had an abortion when they were dating, and then went home to rest after a long day. It might not all be bad news for Dr. Collins; what if she was working that day and had to encounter someone with a rat fursona?
