If you love playing Wordle every day — the puzzle from The New York Times Games that asks you to guess a five-letter word in six tries or less — you’re going to love Savannah Guthrie‘s next gig!

The TODAY co-host, an avid Wordle player, will host an upcoming primetime TV game show based on the popular puzzle.

“I feel very honored to be working with Savannah Guthrie on this show,” Jimmy Fallon, whose Electric Hot Dog production company is producing the show alongside Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS) and The New York Times — said in a statement. “Savannah has that rare combination of intelligence, charm, and warmth that makes everyone feel instantly welcome. And she obviously knows how to host a show.”

The Wordle puzzle first launched in 2021 and was bought by The New York Times in 2022. Millions play the game each day.

What will the format of the Wordle game show be like?

The new format challenges players to solve five-letter word puzzles in a supersized battle of smarts, speed and fun. It builds on the way the puzzle community engages with Wordle every day — solving together, sharing wins, debating strategies and cheering one another on. That style of play will now come to life as the most-obsessed and competitive players team up in squads and go head-to-head while playing for a cash prize.
