What to know about NBA on NBC‘s Mavs vs. Blazers game on December 29

Monday’s matchup marks the second time the Mavs and Blazers will have met this season, after Dallas notched a thrilling 138-133 win in overtime against the Blazers back on November 16. Power forward P.J. Washington and 19-year-old rookie phenom Cooper Flagg led the Mavs with 21 points apiece in that win, flanked by five additional Dallas players who also achieved double digits in the high-scoring contest.

Portland guard Shaedon Sharpe tossed in a team-leading 36 points in the Blazers’ losing overtime effort against the Mavs, accompanied by strong production from Deni Avdija (29 points) and Jerami Grant (26 points). Grant has recently missed a string of games with a left achilles injury since squaring off against Dallas, which means Monday’s rematch could enlist some heavy bench assistance from Blazers backups Sidy Cissoko and Kris Murray.

The Mavs vs. Trail Blazers matchup arrives as the second of two back-to-back games in the NBA on NBC’s nationwide doubleheader on Monday, December 29. In the early game, the San Antonio Spurs will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in a cross-conference NBA contest that tips off at 8 p.m. ET. Both of Monday’s games will air live on NBC and stream in simulcast on Peacock.
