Jimmy Kimmel has often introduced quite a few famous guests on his late-night show. During a recent appearance, he touched on one guest who was scheduled to appear. However, this was ultimately prevented at the last second.

Jimmy Kimmel Recently Sat Down To Speak With Ike Barinholtz On His Podcast Series

Kimmel is known as the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. This series has aired on ABC since 2003.

However, the series was suspended for six days last September. This followed Kimmel making jokes about late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. The suspension was later lifted around September 22, 2025.

During a recent interview, Kimmel revealed that a certain special guest had to be pulled from the show due to this suspension. Kimmel had appeared on an episode of Ike Barinholtz’s “Funny You Ask” podcast, where the popular music group The Bangles came up during the conversation.

Kimmel shared, “Can I tell you something? When I got suspended at ABC, we were in the middle of ’80s week. And Susanna Hoffs was going to be singing.” Hoffs had co-founded The Bangles with Debbi Peterson and Vicki Peterson, who are famous for songs like “Manic Monday” and “Walk Like an Egyptian.”

Barinholtz Also Shared A Story About Meeting Hoffs During The Conversation

Kimmel continued, “I was excited about it, and then, it didn’t happen.” Barinholtz responded to this, “They took this from us.”

As the conversation continued, Kimmel agreed with the sentiment, sharing, “They took that. Yeah.” The podcast host shared that he was “obsessed” with the band’s lead singer and explained “S**** you! S**** you, [Donald] Trump!”

Prior to this, Barinholtz also had a brief story to tell about meeting Hoffs. As he noted, “I’ve met her because she’s married to the great Jay Roach. And I met her at a party one time like, like five years ago and I was like sweating and I was really nervous.”

As noted by OK! Magazine, Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, previously put pressure to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!, threatening to revoke ABC’s license over the monologue involving Kirk. According to the outlet, the jokes suggested that the MAGA movement planned to use Kirk’s death for political gain. At the time, the move to pull the show received backlash. At one point, 400 celebrities signed an open letter in support of Kimmel, claiming that the action was “a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation.”
