Dixie D’Amelio is figuring out who she is outside of her famous sister’s orbit. After years of sharing experiences, friends, and even opinions with younger sister Charli, Dixie says growing up has meant making room for a little more individuality.

Speaking exclusively with The Blast on October 15 at Raising Cane’s original Baton Rouge restaurant, known as “The Mothership,” Dixie opened up about their changing dynamic and why some lessons are better learned on your own.

For Dixie and Charli, growing up together meant sharing more than a last name. Asked how their relationship has evolved, Dixie described a childhood filled with the same activities and the same places. With so much overlap, figuring out where one sister’s preferences ended and the other’s began wasn’t always easy.

She compared it to being twins. “You live the same lives,” she told The Blast. “Like the same people.” Even disliking something could become a joint decision. “Oh, you don’t like this? I won’t like this.” But as they have gotten older, Dixie has started figuring out what she wants for herself.

Dixie was careful to speak for herself when discussing how the sisters have grown. For her, becoming her own person has meant looking beyond the identity they shared growing up and giving herself space to discover what fits. That doesn’t mean there has to be drama between them. Her comments focused on something plenty of siblings can relate to, especially those who grew up practically attached at the hip.

Eventually, sharing everything can give way to different interests, different choices, and different ideas about what comes next. And having a sister who knows you well doesn’t mean she can figure everything out for you.

Being the older sister can come with plenty of opinions. Whether a younger sibling wants to hear them is another story. Dixie touched on that familiar push and pull while discussing the importance of letting each other have their own experiences. “You need to learn by experiencing it,” she said.

Even when advice comes from someone close, there are things people need to work through themselves. For Dixie, allowing that room has felt freeing. After growing up doing so much together, the sisters can make their own choices without every experience having to be a shared one.

She is also applying that same outlook to her own life, including the parts of fame that haven’t been easy.

Dixie’s rise on TikTok brought plenty of attention, but ask her whether it gave her more than it took away, and her answer isn’t quite that simple. Instead, she pointed to what she has learned along the way. “Even if it’s just knowledge of what not to do again,” she told The Blast.

Dixie explained that going through those experiences has given her knowledge she can carry into whatever comes next. That includes allowing herself to change her mind. When asked whether she had ever considered leaving the public eye entirely, Dixie said yes. She compared the feeling to being so consumed by work that stepping away starts to sound appealing. But wanting a break at one point doesn’t necessarily mean feeling that way forever.

To explain how her interests can change, Dixie reached for an example far removed from TikTok. After graduating from high school, she remembered thinking, “I never want to touch a book again,” but “Now, all I do is read.”

These days, Dixie also sees value in the doors her public platform can open, including opportunities to connect with people and take part in charitable activities through Raising Cane’s. She spoke with The Blast during the brand’s October 15 event in Baton Rouge, where reality television stars and influencers gathered ahead of a tour of its neighboring 30th Birthday Pop-Up Museum with owner and founder Todd Graves.

As for her next chapter, Dixie is still figuring it out. And after years of sharing so much of her life with Charli, she is giving herself room to find out what she wants, too.
