The 2025 Emmy Awards doubled as a Law & Order reunion, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay showed up looking sharper than ever. 

Several Law & Order stars lit up the red carpet and stage during the September 14 festivities. Hargitay looked striking while arriving to the Emmys, donning a velvet red gown on the red carpet that exuded modern elegance. Later that night, Hargitay radiated beauty in a shimmering gold gown, making her shine as bright as the many awards given out throughout the ceremony. But a moment that had fans buzzing on social media came courtesy of Hargitay’s Emmy-night selfie shared to her personal Instagram.

Hargitay elevated her already stylish Emmys look with a slick pair of eyeglasses. The SVU icon likely didn’t miss a single speech or reaction — after all, Detective Olivia Benson’s attention to detail never takes a night off.

While Hargitay’s slick glasses look stellar in the heartwarming selfie, many fans raved over the person sitting next to her in the snapshot: her longtime SVU co-star turned Law & Order: Organized Crime fan favorite, Christopher Meloni.

“You’re welcome,” Hargitay captioned the Instagram post, well aware she was gracing Benson and Stabler fans with an aww-worthy treat. Hargitay and Meloni both seemed thrilled to celebrate Law & Order‘s 35-year legacy during the celebration. Meloni also took to Instagram with highlights from the night, sharing a clip of Hargitay and himself cackling backstage amid a must-watch Law & Order tribute.

Before presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series, Hargitay — along with Meloni, SVU icon Ice T, Law & Order veteran turned Chicago Med star S. Epatha Merkerson, and current Law & Order star Tony Goldwyn — took part in an onstage tribute celebrating 35 years of Dick Wolf’s mythic franchise.

Unsurprisingly, Hargitay’s long-running role in the franchise came up. The actress has broken primetime records, and the honor isn’t lost on her fellow fictional detectives.

As the iconic Law & Order theme song played and ended with the hallmark Dun Dun, Ice T hit the crowd with a joke perfectly suited for the star behind the endlessly sarcastic Sgt. Fin Tutuola. “That sound?” Ice T quipped. “That’s the sound my phone makes when Mariska calls me.”

“We are the Law & Order dream team,” Meloni began. “Icons, veteran survivors of so many rooftop chase scenes.”

“And we are all here with one clear mission,” Merkerson added.

“To remind you that Mariska Hargitay has literally solved more fictional crimes than most actual precincts,” Goldwyn finished, getting a cackle from the crowd.

“She’s been on SVU for 27 years,” Merkerson marveled before coyly adding, “That’s longer than some of you have been in therapy because of SVU.”

“And don’t let the compassion fool you, Olivia Benson will hug a victim and knock out a perp all before lunch,” Meloni said. 

At that, Hargitay stepped in to end the delightful derailment. “That’s enough, I love you all, I seriously do,” she told them. “But this isn’t the Mariska Lifetime Achievement Roast.” 

“Wait a minute,” Ice T stopped. “This isn’t the Mariska Lifetime Achievement Roast?”

“He’s always in character,” Meloni laughed before Hargitay showed some love to the 2025 Outstanding Drama nominees.

Don’t miss the next installment of precinct pandemonium by tuning in to Law & Order Thursdays this fall. Following the Thursday, September 25 premiere event, Law & Order Season 25 airs on Thursday nights at 8/7c on NBC, followed by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 at 9/8c. A wild allergic reaction caused America’s Got Talent star Sofía Vergara to miss television’s biggest night of the year.

The former Modern Family star was conspicuously absent at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Though usually a red carpet mainstay, her absence was fully excused. In a September 14 Instagram post, Vergara shared that a wicked allergic with her eye made her miss the event entirely.

“Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER 🤣😩sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye [allergy] right before getting in the car!🤣🤣,” Vergara wrote in a caption.

The star’s right eye looked so swollen and red in the photo she shared, but true to herself, Vergara also posted two videos that cracked fans up everywhere. From seeing the star lying down in discomfort on a doctor’s table to witnessing the 53-year-old using an emergency eye-rinse station, it’s hard not to see the lighter side of her unfortunate situation.

We have to hand it to Vergara: She knows how to steal the spotlight, even when she misses out on star-studded evenings!

Vergara’s ailment caught the attention of one of her AGT colleagues. Terry Crews sent along his well-wishes to the Judge in the comment section.

“Oh no! Get well soon!🔥❤️,” the longtime Host wrote.

And despite her eye swelling up significantly in the photo, Vergara’s fans came to the rescue, offering encouraging words of support.

“Still pretty tho 🔥,” said one commenter.

Something tells us that Vergara will be treating herself to her favorite food at least a handful of times ahead of the AGT Season 20 Live Semifinals on September 16. Which means we’ll see Vergara return to the public eye (no pun intended) soon enough.

While he has fans all over the globe, John Legend‘s children proved to be his cutest as they cheered him from home while he delivered a soaring rendition of his Oscar-winning anthem “Glory” at the Vatican for the Grace for the World concert on September 13.

As the Season 29 Coach of The Voice earned a thunderous reception in the mythic St. Peter’s Square, thousands of miles away, his children Luna, Miles, Wren, and Esti brought their own standing ovation to their household. Legend’s wife, Deal or No Deal Island Season 2 Banker Chrissy Teigen, filmed the unforgettable moment when Legend’s kids gathered in their living room to watch their father’s Vatican performance.

Teigen’s playful commentary can be heard in the background as the Legend household hyped up his set during their watch party. While Miles and Wren danced with glee from the couch, Legend’s daughter Esti stole the spotlight, dancing directly in front of the television while shouting praises for her father. “Go, John!” Teigen cheers as Legend tears down the house onscreen.

After Esti jumped, danced, and clapped to the beat, she delightfully turned to her mother to proclaim: “I love my dad!” Esti then ran up to Teigen to jump on the couch and chant, “I love my daddy!”

Upon seeing the aww-inducing clip, Legend got a kick out of the video, sharing it to Instagram with the caption, “Esti loves her daddy!”

Fans soon flooded Legend’s comments to applaud the adorable scene, with Esti’s euphoric glee swooning fans far and wide. 

Legend, Pharrell and Voices of Fire, Andrea Bocelli, Teddy Swims, Clipse, Angélique Kidjo, and Jelly Roll were among the star-studded lineup for the historic concert, which also included the 250-voice Choir of the Diocese of Rome. Upon seeing Legend’s heartwarming home video, Swims commented on the post, “😍😍😍” as others praised Legend’s wholesome hype crew.

“The Love is sooo real in your fam,” one fan commented, as others swooned over Esti’s endearing bond with her dad. One follower commented, “We love him too baby girl. Awwww.”
