The answer to one of 2026’s most puzzling movie mysteries has finally been answered: Who will voice Yoshi in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

The egg-slinging dinosaur will be brought to life by none other than Donald Glover in the animated sequel that’s out in theaters on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Fans may know the actor and musician for his parts in the NBC sitcom Community; movies including The Lazarus Effect, The Martian, and Solo: A Star Wars Story; or for creating and starring in the series Atlanta.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie follows plumbers and brothers Mario and Luigi as they “apply their ‘let’s-a-go’ attitude to solve everyday problems all over their new home of the Mushroom Kingdom,” according to a synopsis of the film. “As they support Princess Peach, and work to reform a miniaturized imprisoned Bowser, they meet a new companion ― Yoshi.

“Princess Peach’s birthday party sparks a galactic adventure, sending the brothers into space to stop Bowser Jr.’s wicked ambitions and save Rosalina,” the synopsis continues.

Glover taking on the voice of Yoshi wasn’t the only late casting news for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

It was also revealed on March 9 who would voice the villainous toad-like king, Wart, and the bee character, Honey Queen. Keep reading to find out who the actors are!

Who voices Wart in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

Luis Guzmán will lend his voice to Wart in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Fans may recognize Guzmán from TV shows like Oz, Narcos, and Wednesday, or from films including Carlito’s Way (1993), Boogie Nights (1997), Magnolia (1999), The Limey (1999), Traffic (2000), Punch-Drunk Love (2002), and The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009).

Who voices Honey Queen in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

When it comes to Honey Queen, actress and writer Issa Rae will play the character. Before voicing the bee, Rae became buzzworthy following her 2015 memoir, titled The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, inspired by her web series of the same name. She went on to create, co-write, and star in the TV series Insecure — also partially based on the web series Awkward Black Girl.

Rae has also lent her voice to Jess Drew/Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and has appeared in films including The Hate U Give (2018), The Photograph (2020), and Barbie (2023).
