When Alexia Jayy took home the trophy at the end of Season 29 of The Voice, it was a win-win-win-win-win-win-win. A win for Jayy, the 31-year-old mom with a smooth belt reminiscent of Adele, Whitney, and Aretha; a win for her Coach, Adam Levine, who desperately wanted to come out on top in The Voice: Battle of Champions, and a win for all of us, who now get to enjoy Jayy’s new music.

Jayy’s first single, “Rent Free,” is a bold, mid-tempo R&B song directed at a former lover who keeps coming back because the singer lives “rent free” in his head, even though she’s moved on in her real life.
In the accompanying music video, released on April 15, Jayy is a singer at a swanky club performing in front of an attractive patron who can’t take his eyes (or his mind) off of her. Watch the vibey video here!
And yes, there’s more on the way. Jayy revealed in an interview with NBC Insider that she’s “going to keep putting out more music.”
“I am going to get on those big stages, as many as I possibly can, because I love what I do,” she added. “I’m going to just keep doing what I’ve been doing.”

Jayy’s fans can’t get enough of her new single, begging The Voice winner to “keep those songs coming,” one listener commented on YouTube.
“Song of the Summer!” another declared, while one more said, “You sound great! The band is tight. The song is a thing! And the music video rocks. More, please.”
Speaking to NBC Insider after The Voice: Battle of Champions Finale, Levine gushed about his winning Artist and how the possibilities for her music career are “limitless.”
“I think she can do whatever she wants,” Levine said on the red carpet at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Hollywood. “She’s a soul singer in her DNA. When you think of Alexia you think of the Arethas of the world, the Lauren Hills of the world. She’s got a big voice so the potential is kind of limitless for her.”
“I’m excited to see how it unfolds for her,” the Maroon 5 frontman continued. “But man, I’m a huge fan of hers.”
