Olivia Rodrigo Tore “Apart the SNL Dressing Room” to Find Sweet Note Jack White Left Her
When Olivia Rodrigo hosts Saturday Night Live for the first time on May 2 — where she’ll also be pulling double duty as the Musical Guest — she’ll have at least one really famous fan among her supporters.
That would be fellow musician Jack White, who appeared on SNL just weeks earlier on April 4, where he served as the Musical Guest for the sixth time (as a solo artist and as part of The White Stripes.)
In fact, White went out of his way to show his support for Rodrigo, she revealed while appearing on the April 30 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“I love Jack White,” Rodrigo told host Jimmy Fallon near the end of her appearance. “He is like, my hero. He’s the coolest guy ever.”
“Who does not love Jack White?” Jimmy Fallon asked. “He’s the best, rock ‘n’ roll… I love him.”
Rodrigo went on to reveal that she was on the phone with White recently and told him she was going to host SNL. “He’s like, ‘I’m gonna leave a note in your dressing room,'” Rodrigo shared. “And I was like, ‘Haha, okay, funny.'”
But the musician made good on his promise.
In the week leading up to Rodrigo’s SNL hosting gig, she received a message from White while prepping at NBC Studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan.
Olivia Rodrigo “was tearing apart the SNL dressing room” to find Jack White note
“He sent me a text and he’s like, ‘Look up,'” Rodrigo told Fallon. “Like, ‘Keep your head up, you’re gonna find something.’ I was tearing apart the SNL dressing room! I was taking the ceiling tiles off. I was like, ‘He left me something in here!'”
With that, Fallon played video of the artist frantically searching for White’s note.

Sure enough, the 23-year-old “Drivers License” singer was seen pushing up ceiling tiles in her search for the note. After looking in several different areas, Rodrigo finally spotted it on the top shelf of a cabinet in the corner of the room.
She sat down on a couch to open it, and the message included a yellow faux flower and a note scrawled with a simple message that Rodrigo flashed to the camera: “Kill it kid.”
The gesture was very much appreciate by Rodrigo.
As The Tonight Show cut back to the artist and Fallon, she said, “Isn’t that sweet?… That’s like my little good-luck charm.”
But, judging by her past SNL performances and brief appearances in sketches and promos in recent years, she won’t need too much luck to pull off double duty as the episode’s Host and Musical Guest.
Before she left The Tonight Show, Rodrigo revealed one of the songs she’ll perform on SNL on May 2, and hinted at another one.
What songs will Olivia Rodrigo perform on SNL on May 2?
When Fallon asked Rodrigo what songs she’ll be performing on her latest Saturday Night Live appearance, she said, “Yeah, I’m gonna be singing “Drop Dead” and then a brand new one that no one has heard.”

Don’t miss Rodrigo pull double duty as Host and Musical Guest on SNL on May 2. The all-new episode begins at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
