For fans of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the show’s supernatural world never really gets old, and Alyson Hannigan has found a way to keep a piece, or pieces, of it alive. The actress, who played Willow Rosenberg in the beloved series, recently gave fans a glimpse of some familiar items from her time on the show. Rather than leaving the treasured props in storage, she has found a particularly fitting use for them during the Halloween season.

Alyson Hannigan Gives A Tour Of Her Graveyard

Halloween is fast approaching, and Alyson Hannigan is getting into the spirit with a nostalgic twist, bringing some of her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” props out of storage and giving them a new purpose.

On October 20, the actress took to Instagram and showed her followers a quick tour of her graveyard. “You might recognize a tombstone or two,” she wrote in the caption.

Hannigan said one perk of starring in the hit series was getting to take home props once the series ended.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” aired for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003. Hannigan played Willow Rosenberg, Buffy’s shy and highly intelligent best friend who grows into a powerful witch.

The actress said the props department used to loan her props for Halloween, but at the end of the series, she got the green light to take home the items she wanted.

Fans Spotted An Iconic ‘Buffy’ Prop

Hannigan showed a few tombstones that may have been used for the show’s opening credits, pointing to one that has “seen better days.”

Another display featured a skeleton emerging from a casket, which the actress said is “really fragile,” adding that it was used in the first season and is almost 30 years old. “So gross. It’s so creepy. I love it,” Hannigan said.

Her Halloween display also features a large cross, and she asked her followers to help figure out when it was used on the show.

Indeed, her fans knew exactly where it was from, noting it was part of one of the most heartbreaking scenes. In Season 7, Episode 2, Spike (James Marsters) drapes his body over the cross and burns.

“You just HAVE THE CROSS! The CROSS. It’s just sitting there like it doesn’t house one of the most traumatic heartbreaks of the series! Holy Moly, girl!” one fan commented.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Also Took Home ‘Buffy’ Memorabilia

Hannigan isn’t the only one who went home with memorabilia from the series. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the titular character, previously shared that she kept one of Buffy’s wooden vampire-killing stakes dubbed Mr. Pointy.

In a 2023 episode of “Who What Wear,” Gellar discussed Buffy’s wardrobe and how it was central to the character. Among the keepsakes Gellar brought home were the dress Buffy wore during her first on-screen death and the jacket from the end of the series. Additionally, she kept a pair of boots.

“We used to say, when the boots went on, you know the fighting was going to happen. I still have a pair of those boots in my house that I still fit into,” she shared.

Alyson Hannigan Thought She Lost Her ‘Buffy’ Opportunity

Hannigan played one of the series’ central characters and was the only other actor, besides Gellar, to appear in all 144 official episodes.

In 2020, Hannigan revealed that she thought she almost bombed her audition, according to PEOPLE. On her eighth callback, she had a chemistry read with Gellar and Nicholas Brendon, but she forgot all her lines as soon as she entered the room.

Fortunately, showrunner Joss Whedon wanted to hear an unpracticed scene and handed her a new script filled with computer jargon. Hannigan struggled with the unfamiliar lines, but her chemistry with the cast won him over, earning her the role despite the fumbles.

The ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Is In Limbo

Fans were excited to learn about the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot, “Buffy: New Sunnydale.” Gellar was expected to return, but hopes were dashed when Hulu scrapped the revival in March after filming the pilot episode.

Now, the project’s future is uncertain, with intellectual property rights issues complicating efforts to revive the beloved series.

For now, fans will have to wait and see whether the series returns to the screen or remains a piece of TV history.
