That’s not all folks. In 2023, in the midst of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Warner Bros. Discovery decided to toss an anvil on Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action animated hybrid film on The Looney Tunes’ Wile E. Coyote. The film, like Batgirl, was shelved at the company for a tax write-off until March 2025, when Ketchup Entertainment finalized a deal with WBD to finally bring the legal comedy to life, aka global distribution. Star Will Forte announced that the film will be released in theaters August 28, 2026, making their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con a real celebration. “This never happens unless you’re Zack Snyder,” moderator/actor Paul Scheer joked.
Alongside Scheer and Forte, director Dave Green, Martha Kelly and voice actor Eric Bauza joined the panel to discuss the long journey to this moment, though not without some light ribbing at the… ACME corporation. The movie, Scheer says, “blows the lid off of corporate corruption!” but he made sure to note, “I have never heard of Warner Brothers. This was purely an ACME decision, and I am saying that purely for legal reasons.” And for legal reasons, that’s probably why they had actor P.J. Byrne parade around Hall H as an ACME goon for the audience to boo loudly at, especially as he tried to block the audience from seeing a teaser trailer that touted Coyote vs. ACME as the movie ACME tried to bury. Sound familiar? The panel also premiered an extended trial room sequence with John Cena as an ACME lawyer and Forte as Wile’s flustered attorney and teased an appearance from Bugs Bunny himself in the film.
