Lululemon has heard our request: The brand has finally created a seamless version of its best-selling Align High-Rise Pant, ten years after its initial launch. The stretchy, weightless, and buttery-soft leggings — made from Lululemon’s signature Nulu fabric, a flexible blend of nylon and Lycra elastane — were unlike anything else I had tried at the time. I remember them as the first pair of leggings I actually wanted to wear all day long, the pair that convinced me leggings could be as comfortable and lounge-worthy as sweatpants.
Even though I prefer thicker, more compressive leggings nowadays, as a longtime fan of the original Align style, I had to try the new-and-improved pair to see if they were worth the wait. I attended the launch event in May and have been testing them ever since, mostly for long walks, running errands, and some low-impact workouts. Keep reading for my full review.
What’s the difference between the original Align Pant and the Align No Line Pant?
The major difference is that there is no front seam on the Align No Line Pant, which means they look smoother than the original version (although they don’t feel much different). The Align Pant is also available in more colorways and lengths than the updated pair. But both styles are made from soft and lightweight Nulu fabric that features four-way stretch and helps wick away sweat. Both have a hidden waistband pocket, which is where I store my headphone case and apartment keys during walks, and a high-rise, wide waistband that never feels too tight. And both are ideal for low-impact activities but, in my opinion, too stretchy for running or other cardio workouts.

Do I need the Align No Line Pant?
If your top priority in leggings is comfort, absolutely. As a Cut Shop editor, I have tried (what feels like) hundreds of leggings from countless activewear brands and can confirm that nothing is quite as soft as Lululemon’s Align line. It’s the gold standard for buttery-soft activewear. If you are a Pilates princess who does mostly low-impact workouts, I would also consider purchasing a pair. Now, do you need them if you already own the original Align leggings? That all depends on how much the visible seam bothers you.
Personally, I probably would not buy these again because I almost always want compression when I work out — even for low-impact activities like Pilates. I like to feel secure, like everything is being held in place, even if it means wearing leggings that are quite tight and slightly uncomfortable. Both the Align and the Align No Line provide low support and prioritize comfort over compression. I’ll continue wearing them for day-to-day activities like running errands or working from home, but I’ll stick to my all-time-favorite Glow Up Super-High-Rise leggings for working out. Another reason I would skip them is because they are so similar to the original Align leggings.
