Steve Burton has been nominated for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. However, his plans for the event have taken a turn. This comes out as he has shared past issues when it comes to co-parenting with his ex.
Steve Burton Was Recently Nominated For A Daytime Emmy For His Work On General Hospital
As an actor, Burton is known for his role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital, first appearing on the soap in 1991. Outside of Port Charles, he also played Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless throughout the 2010s.
In his personal life, Burton was married to Sheree Gustin from 1999 to 2023, sharing three children together: daughters Makena Grace and Brooklyn Faith and son Jack Marshall. In 2025, Steve married Michelle Lundstrom.

According to TMZ, Burton has claimed that Gustin has recently caused issues with custody. Reportedly, he is even asking a judge to get involved. In newly filed court docs, the soap star claims he wants to take his daughter Brooklyn to the Daytime Emmys on October 30. Burton is a nominee during this year’s ceremony.
According to Burton, Gustin has refused to swap custody days, despite a reasonable request for some scheduling flexibility. He claimed that this was another example of his ex not being willing to work with him as they co-parent their daughter.
As previously reported, Burton and Gustin are going back and forth about the latter’s attempt to move their daughter from California to Tennessee. The actor shared that Sheree previously decided to stay in the latter state after he decided to move back to California.

Steve shared that he has since gotten a new home and signed back on to work on General Hospital. This was on her representations that she was staying in Orange County, California.
Meanwhile, Sheree has claimed that Steve’s decision to move shouldn’t “result in an increase in his parenting time.” Reportedly, she also claims that “it shows ongoing instability.” She also alleged that he is often busy working. She also denied claimed that she disliked his new wife, Michelle.
