Gigi Hadid Brings Perspective To Elsa Hosk’s VSFS Runway Walk: ‘Y’all Have No Clue’

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show always gives viewers plenty to talk about, from the models’ runway walks to their elaborate ensembles. This year, Elsa Hosk drew criticism over her strut while wearing oversized wings, prompting fellow model Gigi Hadid to weigh in. Hadid offered a different perspective, reminding everyone that there’s more to consider than the few seconds viewers see models walking down the runway.

Gigi Hadid Claps Back At Elsa Hosk Critic

On October 21, a few days after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Gigi Hadid defended fellow model Elsa Hosk against a Threads user who had something to say about Hosk’s walk.

“Imagine Giselle [Bündchen] walking down the runway like this?” the user wrote, adding a grimace emoji. She was referring to Hosk strutting down the runway wearing gigantic flowing wings. Other critics also weighed in on social media, saying Hosk looked “stiff” while modeling.

Hadid responded to the Threads user, writing, “This really PMO,” adding that Hosk “slayed” at the show. She then said the 2026 VSFS was bigger than previous runways, and models did the long walk while carrying massive, heavy wings.

“The wings are getting bigger bc the viewers love it & they’re MAJOR but NOT aero dynamic, then add the gust of runway fans,” Hadid said. She also noted that it takes three men to get the wings off of models, per Page Six.

“Elsa is stunning, strong, & carried these like a boss. Y’all have no clue,” she concluded.

Hosk also addressed her critics on Instagram Stories, posting a short video of her walk and writing, “And for those of you online talking about the way I walk, it took THREE men to carry these wings and put them on my back. Think about that!”

While some criticized her walk, many also came to the 37-year-old model’s defense, with one writing that Victoria’s Secret “made the best” decision by assigning the large wings to her. “Elsa Hosk will always be THAT girl on the runway! The angel energy is unmatched,” one commenter wrote. “I gasped,” another fan said.

Elsa Hosk’s Wings Were the Biggest At The Show

Angel wings have long been central to Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows and were historically reserved for official Victoria’s Secret Angels, the brand’s ambassadors. However, in recent years, wings are no longer exclusive to Angels.

Both Hadid and Hosk wore wings at this year’s show, with Hadid in sparkling metallic wings with sequin discs.

Hosk’s wings, by contrast, featured brown feathers paired with flowing gold fabric. The piece towered nearly six feet tall, spanned 10 feet wide, and weighed approximately 50 pounds. Reports indicated that the structure was made of a welded metal frame.

Elsa Hosk Returned To The VSFS Runway After Eight Years

The 2026 VSFS marked Hosk’s first walk since 2018. Since then, the model has built her own fashion brand and focused on entrepreneurship.

Hosk debuted at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2011 and became a PINK ambassador three years later. She earned her Angel wings in 2015 and opened the show the following year. In her 2018 appearance, Hosk wore the featured Fantasy Bra designed by Atelier Swarovski, reportedly worth $1 million, per Vogue Scandinavia.

Her latest runway appearance came roughly 12 weeks after she gave birth to a daughter in July.

Gigi Hadid Has Faced Her Own Share Of Runway Criticism

Hadid, too, has been criticized, particularly in her early years as a model. After her VSFS debut in 2015, critics questioned whether she fit the traditional image of a Victoria’s Secret model because of her body type and walk.

Hadid responded, acknowledging that she didn’t have the same body as other models and admitting she wasn’t the best. “I also know I have to improve. No, I’m not the first or the last model of my type in this industry,” she noted.

She has come a long way since her early years in the industry and has consistently emphasized the importance of self-love. “It’s my experience that your body will grow and change, and there’s always beauty in it, no matter what,” she once said.
