The Bold and the Beautiful has Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) constantly distraught and guilt-ridden these days, and all that stress is not good for the baby that she is carrying. And with John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) back this week and upset about the surrogacy, Steffy’s stress levels increase, and this could cause big trouble.
Today we’re going to talk about the possibility of the worst thing imaginable happening for Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Steffy, which would be them losing that baby. Let’s dive into whether tragedy is coming soon to The Bold and the Beautiful.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Steffy’s Guilt and Carter’s Pressure
So, we know Steffy is in a terrible place emotionally, and she has been ever since she woke up hungover next to Carter on the CEO sofa and realized they had a drunken one-night stand. I was excited to see they steam-cleaned that couch, though, which was funny. So, from the start, Steffy wanted to tell Finn the truth, but Carter pressured her into silence. And things went from bad to worse when Steffy found out she was pregnant. So, she’s been panic-stricken and racked with guilt for cheating on Finn.
That cheating secret was bad enough. But then when Carter came up with the surrogacy scheme, oh my goodness, Steffy was opposed from the start. But of course, Carter won’t let Steffy back out of it. Carter is worried he’ll lose Daphne Rose Walton (Murielle Hilaire), and that he’ll lose his job because Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) would fire him. And of course, Carter’s worried about more than just his job, because he is best friends with Steffy’s father, Ridge. And of course, Steffy would likely lose her husband, Finn, and would lose Daphne, her best friend.
But honestly, now that Carter’s wild surrogacy scheme is underway, things are going to be so much worse when it all blows up. Because now it’s more than just them having a drunken one-night whoopsie. Steffy is pregnant, and she and Carter have told countless lies, and they’re getting in deeper by the day.
Finn Returns Furious on B&B
It’s easy to see stress has overtaken Steffy. Finn can see that she’s different. He’s worried. Plus, Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) knows something is wrong with Steffy, and she’s increasingly worried. I don’t think Taylor’s going to let up on Steffy until she tells her why she’s so upset.
So, very soon, Finn and Steffy’s marriage is at risk, because official October spoilers for The Bold and the Beautiful say that Steffy is trying to romance Finn while fighting for her marriage. So, the fact that Steffy’s got to fight means things are going downhill, which, of course, we already expected. Finn begged Steffy not to go through with the surrogacy, and Finn said, “Look, Steffy, let’s talk about it once I’m back from the medical convention.”
Bold and Beautiful: Carter Tries to Corner Steffy
This week, Finn is home early, and I expect him to be furious and hurt that Steffy went behind his back and went through with the insemination procedure. And the thing is, of course, she didn’t have a procedure. So, that’s one more lie that she’s telling. And soon, Carter is going to tell Daphne that Steffy is pregnant. I wouldn’t be surprised if Carter tells Daphne that Steffy’s pregnant without even warning Steffy first. That would be on brand for him right now.
Carter is very actively trying to paint Steffy into a corner so she can’t back out. Carter has been bullying Steffy and browbeating her into accepting the surrogacy scam they’re running. And once Finn finds out Steffy is pregnant, things are going to get worse for their marriage. And already, Steffy wants to come clean. So this week, when Finn’s ranting about what Steffy did behind his back, she’s thinking about confessing to the cheating.
And I’m sure that Carter will find some way to intervene, like he’s been doing. He seems to have some kind of sixth sense of when to bust in. But I think Steffy may also just see the hurt in Finn’s eyes and decide she can’t hurt him even more.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Could Stress Cost Steffy the Baby?
So with all that in mind, let’s now talk about a possible tragedy. Stress is not good for anybody, but it’s even worse on Steffy because she is pregnant. And I could see a worst-case scenario happening, and that would be if she were to miscarry Carter’s baby because of all the stress. Steffy wants this baby. She doesn’t want to hand it over to Carter and Daphne. But in Carter’s mind, that’s his and Daphne’s baby that Steffy’s carrying. So, Carter would be distraught if Steffy lost their baby.
And despite the weird circumstances, Carter and Steffy do both want this child. Carter has repeatedly told Steffy that her giving the baby to him and Daphne is the only way to salvage both their marriages and keep their lives intact. But this is so much for Steffy to carry. She’s been nothing but miserable since she told Carter that she’s pregnant. And if Finn freaking out on her pushes Steffy into a stress spiral, yeah, there’s a chance she could lose this baby.
Steffy Headed for Downward Spiral on B&B
Miscarriages are pretty common on soap operas, and her losing Carter’s baby would be a very soapy outcome that likely would send Steffy into a full-blown spiral. But also, her and Carter having this child and it remaining a dirty secret is also a very soapy outcome. So this week, Finn finds out Steffy moved forward with the surrogacy, and Finn’s upset, and Steffy scrambles to protect their marriage. And this Finn thing may be what tips her over the edge.
If Steffy loses the baby, I could see her lashing out at Carter, because if Steffy had told Finn the truth at the time, there’s a chance her husband would have forgiven her, and then Steffy would have been able to keep her and Carter’s baby, and she wouldn’t have all this stress eating at her. And of course, things would be chaotic, but at least the truth would be out there, and it wouldn’t be suffocating Steffy. So, if she loses the baby, I could see her turning on Carter.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Medical Records Could Expose the Truth
And then, to make matters so much worse, we could see Finn discovering the truth about the baby’s conception, because if Steffy miscarries, there will be a doctor’s report that would list how far along in the pregnancy she was. They would examine the fetus, and it would all be in the report. So, Finn might glance at Steffy’s records just to make sure she’s okay and not having complications. And then he sees, wait, what is this? The baby was dated several weeks further along than the timeline that Carter and Steffy presented for the surrogacy.
And then the cat would be out of the bag. Finn would explode. Everybody would realize Steffy couldn’t have gotten pregnant from that procedure. That outcome would be tragic and disastrous for everybody involved, because Steffy and Carter would have lost their baby, and Daphne would have lost a chance to have a baby also, because she and Carter are supposed to raise that child together.
Daphne Walks Away on B&B
I’m sure Daphne will turn her back on both Steffy and Carter, and Finn might walk out on their marriage because of all the lies, despite Steffy insisting she wanted to tell him all along. And of course, Ridge may rage at Carter for sleeping with Steffy and roping her into this surrogacy scheme. And Ridge may blame Carter for ruining Steffy’s marriage. I’m sure Ridge and Carter’s friendship would be over. And if Daphne left Forrester Creations because of this Steffy and Carter thing, that is one more thing to infuriate Ridge.
So, we’ll see if Steffy loses the baby or not because of all this stress. Hopefully Steffy won’t, but even if she has complications because of that stress, the extra scrutiny from the doctors could be what exposes the surrogacy lie to Finn. Bottom line, this isn’t going to be good for anybody.
