A video of Kelly Clarkson‘s encounter with an Art of Play employee has surfaced as the dispute between the singer and the Brooklyn store continues to unfold. The two sides have publicly pushed back against each other’s accounts, keeping the incident in the spotlight. With the footage now circulating online, the back-and-forth continues to divide people, with opinions remaining split over what had occurred.

Investigative Podcast Obtains Kelly Clarkson Footage From The Store

On October 13, investigative podcast “Pablo Torre Finds Out” released an episode focused on the drama between Kelly Clarkson and a Brooklyn store, Art of Play.

On October 10, the singer shared her bad experience at the shop with her 8 million followers on X, sparking an ongoing dispute between her and the boutique over their differing accounts of what happened.

Now, the public can view how the interaction went. However, the footage obtained did not come with audio, and users are left dissecting the environment and body language of those involved.

The timestamp shows Clarkson entering the store at about 2:50 p.m. on October 10, wearing an oversized yellow shirt, baggy jeans, a gray baseball cap, and a backpack.

The Singer Was At The Store For Less Than Five Minutes

The video shows Clarkson browsing and picking up some items from shelves. A couple of minutes after she entered the store, she approaches Molly, the automaton bird attached to the wall.

The singer then gets the attention of an employee, seemingly inquiring about the bird. Clarkson can be seen pointing to Molly and talking to the clerk, who is casually leaning on a table or counter with his ankles crossed while holding a drink in one hand.

The employee then points at something obstructed from view before they walk off in separate directions. The entire interaction lasted less than a minute.

Clarkson goes back to a shelf and returns the items in her hands. Before exiting the store, she talks to another employee who was behind the cash register, gesturing with her hands and seemingly explaining something to the man before eventually walking out at 2:54 p.m., about 4 minutes and 50 seconds after she arrived.

Yet another security footage, this time from Art of Play’s facade, shows Clarkson reaching for her phone after exiting the door.

At about 3:05 p.m., she posted her initial viral tweet, naming Art of Play and sharing her “Pretty Woman” experience with the employee, claiming she was looked at as if she couldn’t afford the item.

The X post was the catalyst for the public feud and has been viewed 46 million times as of writing.

Since then, the store has issued its own response, prompting Clarkson to call the business a “liar” as both sides continue to stand by their conflicting accounts of what happened.

While some people have changed their opinions after watching the security footage, others argue that the video does not prove anything. Without audio, the clip does not establish what the employee said to Clarkson, leaving the singer’s account neither confirmed nor disproved.

The ongoing feud raises many questions, with people from both sides chiming in. Observers say Clarkson was “entitled” and weaponized her celebrity status against the small business, highlighting how the store is being harassed, doxed, and review-bombed.

On the other hand, the singer’s supporters continue defending her, saying that she’s entitled to share her experience as a customer regardless of her status. Retail experts have also expressed their opinion, with some saying there might have been poor communication from the employee about the item, per Newsweek.

Store’s Owner Wants Kelly Clarkson To Face ‘Social Consequences’

Art of Play co-owner Adam Rubin has spoken out and heavily criticized Clarkson for using her status to “squash” his business, claiming the employees are “in danger.” They have been receiving non-stop phone calls, and content creators have been visiting the store since the singer’s first tweet.

While Rubin said they have “no ill will” against Clarkson and even invited her back to their store, he said they find her “gross abuse of power completely reprehensible, and she should face social consequences.”
