The WWE icon has gone to really great lengths to proffer lasting solutions to his hair loss, with each of his two surgeries taking about 20 hours, but he has no reservations about this medical breakthrough.
John Cena earlier disclosed that he was pushed to finally do something about his bald spot because his fans, who watched him take over the world in wrestling rings, would not stop bullying him about it.

The actor got candid with PEOPLE at the San Diego Comic Con on July 25 about the latest cosmetic adventure he has embarked on. After going on two trips to the surgery room for hair transplants, Cena declared that he feels really great amid everything.
He stated that the grand objective behind the procedures is to make sure he gets more hair, and his doctor, Ken Anderson, is right on top of that situation. Cena revealed that the results that followed the first procedure impressed him so much that he returned to the Anderson Center for Hair in Georgia 15 months later for a follow-up.
There, he communicated his observation about the progress, and his doctor advised him to consider a clean shave so they could keep the follicles. By shaving his head, Anderson will be able to plant more hair follicles.
“My first operation was 13 and a half hours. The second one was eight hours. And I’m rocking this hair thing with the promise that he’s working. I have full trust and faith in him with this process,” he added.

Speaking on the process that led him to this point, the retired wrestler declared that he initially hesitated because of the stigma that often came with cosmetic procedures.
As shared by The Blast, Cena noted that if there were not so much shame around it, he would have gone in for a hair transplant a decade ago. He now realizes it is not a complicated surgery; it just involves taking hair from one part to fill the bald spot.
The actor continued that he went in for the surgery in 2024, but he remained bald for about four months after that, and the fans who would not stop spotlighting his baldness did not make that waiting period any pleasant.
Cena currently maintains a strict scalp health routine involving red light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, and specialized shampoos as part of his hair care.

On “The Pat McAfee Show” during the WWE World Fan Experience in Las Vegas in 2025, The Blast shared that Cena sarcastically appreciated his critics for setting him on the path to restoration and relief. He also reminded his fans that his hair loss was genetic and beyond his control, adding that it has been a difficult process.
Cena emphasized that for newer hair to grow, the old hair must shed, but people could have addressed his appearance in kinder ways instead of turning it into a spectacle during matches.
When the actor is not urging critics to pay less attention to his looks, he is making kids’ wishes come true via the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he beat his previous record of 500 wishes in 2022.
From granting wishes revolving around wrestling tickets, championship belts, high fives, and hospital visits to fans, Cena continues to set high trends. Cena joined the organization in 2004, after it struck a cord in his heart to help the foundation grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illness.
