Ten years after winning The Voice, Alisan Porter is stepping back into the spotlight with new music, and the timing couldn’t feel more full-circle.
Longtime fans of Porter know her voice has always carried a raw emotional edge, but “Race to Nowhere” leans even further into that vulnerability. With haunting lyrics and magnetic sound, the song is a must-hear for anyone who rooted for the Artist during her iconic Voice tenure. The singer-songwriter, who captured America’s attention during Season 10 of the smash NBC competition in 2016, officially released a new single on May 22, marking another dynamite hit within her post-Voice career.
Porter teased the song across social media throughout spring, building anticipation with small snippets of the song, an Americana-rock ballad about feeling hopeless in a pursuit.

Alisan Porter’s new song “Race to Nowhere” comes 10 years after her Voice victory
The single’s release befittingly falls on the 10th anniversary of her Voice victory, making history as Coach Christina Aguilera‘s first winning Artist on The Voice. After impressing Aguilera with her unforgettable Blind Audition of “Blue Bayou,” Porter wowed audiences with powerhouse performances of songs like Aerosmith’s “Cryin’,” “Desperado” by the Eagles, and the West Side Story track “Somewhere.” She ultimately earned the Season 10 crown and became one of the show’s most memorable vocalists.
Since her victory, Porter has continued releasing original music while balancing live performances, songwriting, and family life. Her Spotify catalog boasts recent singles like 2025’s “California” and 2024’s “Bleedin'” and “See in The Dark,” all showcasing her growth and evolution into a show-stopper.

Porter opened up about her storied journey in the music industry during a 2024 interview with Daily Collegian, revealing her creative process has shifted in recent years, especially upon the release of her EP The Ride, an Americana-infused album of hits.
“I feel a very openness around my creativity and my songwriting. I was kind of dormant for a little while and kind of unsure,” Porter shared. “I think we all went through such a weird time during COVID, and it sort of broke it all down for me. And now I think since it’s sort of built back up. I’m feeling much more connected to my creativity, my art, and much less connected to it in the ego sense. I’m just doing it so whatever comes out, whatever I’m thinking, whatever I’m feeling, I just write it down and see what happens.”
