Fresh off the massive success of Oppenheimer, acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan is tackling one of the most epic and legendary stories in all of fiction next: The Odyssey.
And now, we finally have our first full look at what Nolan has created, thanks to a brand new trailer showing off the story, the action and the incredible cast.

The Odyssey is a mythic action epic that Nolan shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to life, tracing the legendary story of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, as he makes the treacherous journey home in the wake of the Trojan War.

The first trailer gives us some peeks at Odysseus’ epic journey, with flashes of war, a clash with the massive creature the Cyclops, and plenty of the human drama Nolan is known for crafting. The action looks incredible, as the film was shot entirely with IMAX film cameras.

Nolan recruited an impressively stacked cast to join him in bringing this classic story to life. The stars assembled for The Odyssey include Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron. The film was written and directed by Nolan.
The Odyssey opens exclusively in theaters on July 17.
