The Saturday Night Live Season 49 sketch “Tiny Ass Bag” is notable for several reasons: its escalating absurdity, four-time Host Adam Driver at his hilarious best, and the SNL sketch debut of Olivia Rodrigo, who was the episode’s Musical Guest.

“Tiny Ass Bag” aired during Driver’s December 9, 2023, episode. Starring Driver and cast members Ego Nwodim and Marcello Hernández as retail shop workers promoting miniature bags at sky-high prices, the spokespeople helpfully explain that their products are perfect for carrying things such as one AirPod (and that’s it), one Altoid (and that’s it), and a half-smoked cigarette (and that’s it!). Or as they say it, “dassit.”

As the intense Kevin, Driver delivers deadpan lines like, “Looking for a damn duffel? Go to Walmart, pig.”

The full tiny product line includes Tiny Ass Hiking Backpack and Tiny Ass Luggage, with each product showcased with laugh-out-loud examples of what things can fit inside.

Oh, and the retailer also offers normal-sized bags, too, rebranded for interested shoppers. (“Tiny Ass Bag, now available in medium.”)

Olivia Rodrigo played Georgina in Saturday Night Live’s “Tiny Ass Bag”

Olivia Rodrigo as Georgina, Marcello Hernández as Rogelio, Ego Nwodim as Marie Jose, and host Adam Driver as Kevin during a sketch in Saturday Night Live Season 49 Episode 7.

Rodrigo made her entrance just past the sketch’s midway point, and effortlessly jumped right in.

Introducing herself as “Georgina, and I don’t have a last name — it’s Georgina and that’s it,” the “Drivers License” singer flexed her comedic acting chops. It’s an exciting hint of what’s to come when the former Disney actress pulls double duty in the third-to-last episode of Season 51.

“We also have a carry-on option,” Rodrigo explains in an accent that can only be described as somehow encompassing all accents. “This one is so small, it can only contain your secrets.”

Looking back, it was a high-pressure moment for the then-20-year-old, but she passed her live sketch comedy trial by fire with flying colors. How Rodrigo was able to keep a straight face while saying her lines is beyond us — and it bodes well for her upcoming SNL hosting debut.

Speaking of which…
