Just 24 years after he first hosted Saturday Night LiveJack Black became a member of the Five-Timers Club on April 4, 2026. But — as was first hinted during Kristen Wiig’s Season 49 induction — the group’s lost a bit of its exclusivity as it now nears 30 members.

But despite the storied lounge’s dust and cobwebs, Black’s entry into the club attracted plenty of star power, including December 6 Host Melissa McCarthy, Candice Bergen, and Musical Guest Jack White. Jonah Hill, who became a Five-Timer in 2018, was the first to alert Black that there was “something wrong.”

“Ah, scary goblin,” Black yelped once he made it to the decrepit lounge.

“No, it’s just me,” Tina Fey told him.

Tina Fey explained that the Five-Timers Club was a “one-off joke in a Tom Hanks monologue”

“Tina! What’s become of this once glorious place?” Black asked.

“You know, it’s seen better days,” Fey admitted. “What started off as a one-off joke in a Tom Hanks monologue has been brought back so many times that it has literally been run into the ground. For example—and this is true—this is my fifth Five-Timers Club sketch.”

It’s true: The Five-Timers Club began as a joke in Tom Hanks’ December 8, 1999 monologue, with retroactive members Paul Simon, Steve Martin, and Elliott Gould “inducting” him.

“Wow, a double Five-Timer! Is that why you’re wearing that special jacket?” Black wondered.

“Oh, no, this is actually my First-Timers jacket from SNL UK,” Fey said of the slick faux fur-lined number. “I think it’s made out of Paddington,” she added, turning around for a hilarious reveal. Soon Candice Bergen (a member since 1990) and Melissa McCarthy (inducted in 2017) to make their grand entrances. McCarthy kicked things into party mode by shotgunning a beer while a new guest tried to join the party.

While Domingo (Marcello Hernández) isn’t technically in the club, he was ready to serenade Jack Black — and another member had to come in and do crowd control.

“No cast members allowed,” explained Jack White (a member since 2023), after clanking Domingo/Hernández on the skull with a cast iron pan. Fed up, Jack Black went back to basics.

“Candice, let’s go — it’s gonna get loud,” Fey said, dashing away as Black and White launched into an SNL version of “Seven Nation Army”:

I’m gonna make it right /The Five-Timer Army gonna lift the curse
We got Jack Black and White / He’s shredding his axe while I sing the next verse

We got Melissa, Candice Bergen, Jonah Hill and British Tina Fey
It’s my nightmare rotation / And I think it’s gonna save the day
And when I put this jacket on you know I feel like I am ready to host!
