Mariska Hargitay is known to many for her work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. However, the star recently announced another big job with fans. The actress even shared a few statements, where she revealed that the process brought about many emotional moments.
Mariska Hargitay First Joined Law & Order: Special Victims Unit In 1999
Hargitay is the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield and an accomplished actress herself. Many know her best for portraying Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 1999.
Margitay has won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe through her work on the show. Outside of this, she is also known as the founder and former president of the Joyful Heart Foundation, aimed towards helping survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, abuse, and human trafficking.

Recently, the actress shared that she has a new accomplishment to put on her resume. The star recently landed a role on Broadway.
The Instagram page for the Broadway show, Every Brilliant Thing, announced that Hargitay would be joining the cast. The actress appeared in a photo being surrounded by confetti.
Every Brilliant Thing is a “one-man” show that revolves around a child who starts a list of brilliant things in the world. This list is meant to help their mother’s depression following a suicide attempt.
The Actress Will Be Taking Over The Role From Another Famous Star
Hargitay will be taking over for actor Daniel Radcliffe in the show, which is believed to be the actress’ Broadway debut. At this time, it’s believed that Hargitay’s appearances on stage won’t impact her role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
As noted by People, Hargitay has also shared a few statements over the new role. As she shared, “I read Every Brilliant Thing and cried, rejoiced, laughed, cried some more, and loved it so much. I’m always drawn to themes of healing and renewal, especially when the journey is rendered in all its complexity.”

“It feels like an extraordinary gift to make my Broadway debut, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, with a play that affirms life so emphatically.’ For me, the triumph of this beautiful piece of work—this luminously brilliant thing—is that through a deeply personal story, we experience the universal endeavor of keeping ourselves pointed towards light, compassion, and hope.”
Back in February, as the outlet noted, Radcliffe also released a statement over the show. The Harry Potter star shared, “It’s so kindhearted, the play. It manages to be about really heavy stuff — about depression, about suicide — without being bleak, and also very joyous without being sentimental or cloying.”
Every Brilliant Thing officially opened on March 12 at the Hudson Theatre in New York City, with previous performances starting back in late February. Its run has been extended through June 28.
