For two and a half weeks in February, the world will look toward northern Italy, where the XXV Winter Olympic Games will test the strength, speed, grace, and teamwork of the best athletes from every country.
If you can’t wait to catch the action, you can tune in to NBC‘s coverage of qualifying events like the speed skating trials, where Olympic hopefuls will race for a spot on Team USA. Here’s the full schedule.
There will be coverage throughout the Games on both NBC and Peacock, starting with TODAY‘s Savannah Guthrie and sports broadcaster Terry Gannon hosting the Opening Ceremony. Gannon is a former college basketball player with more than three decades of experience covering sports for broadcast television. This will be his sixth Olympics as a commentator. Be sure to tune in so you don’t miss a minute of the action.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at San Siro Stadium in Milan on February 6, and will feature a performance from Mariah Carey, now not only the unofficial queen of Christmas but of the entire winter season. Considering what a delight it was to see Lady Gaga open the Summer Games in Paris in 2024, we can’t wait to watch. And, of course, we’re also excited to watch the competitions and medal ceremonies.
When do the 2026 Winter Olympics end?
The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Verona Olympic Arena. There are also five events that day: the final two heats of 4-man bobsleigh, women’s 50km cross-country skiing, and the gold medal games for both women’s curling and men’s ice hockey.

The athletes on Team USA will get an extra boost this year from their honorary coach, Snoop Dogg, who previously brought great energy to the Olympics with his unique commentary during the 2024 Games in Paris.
“Team USA athletes are the real stars — I’m just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines,” Snoop said in a statement. “This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”
